Board of Supervisors Work Session Minutes

 A work session of the Paradise Township Board of Supervisors was held at the Paradise Township Municipal Building, 5912 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco, PA.

PRESENT:  Gary Konrath, Peter Gonze, Reda Briglia, Tina Transue, Charles Unangst and Solicitor Prevoznik.

 Konrath called the work session to order at 5:03 p.m.

Permit Manager

The Board met with John Hudack, Building Inspection Underwriters of PA, Inc.(BIU) to discuss having BIU begin using the Township’s permit software Permit Manager. The Board discussed with Mr. Hudack their reasons for wanting BIU employees to enter all permit information into Permit Manager as well as their own permit system. Mr. Hudack handed out a Permit Report that shows the information they input into their permitting system. Shawn and Jennifer McGlynn, SFM Consulting, the Township’s Zoning Officer and Administrator were also present to explain to the Board why the permit information should be put into Permit Manager and that it should be done by someone knowledgeable about the building codes. Mr. McGlynn explained that it would beneficial for the permitting procedure for the information to be available to the Zoning Officials and Township employees. Gonze asked Mr. Hudack what steps could be taken to get the BIU permits into Permit Manager. Mr. Hudack responded that it could be done as long as they have access to the Township’s computers. It was further discussed that the Township’s Zoning Officials may have access to BIU records by way of a read-only basis in BIU’s proprietary permit software. Moving forward Transue will coordinate with BIU to set up a meeting with the Permit Manager Software person to have them come in to train BIU’s employees on how to enter information into the Permit Manager Software at which point all permits will be entered into the Permit Manager Software.
