PARADISE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

DECEMBER 27, 2011

Call to Order

Chair Troutman called the continued meeting from December 27, 2011 to order at 9:00 a.m. on December 27, 2011.

Roll Call

Officials Present:

Louise Troutman – Chair

Reda Briglia – Secretary-Treasurer

John C. Prevoznik – Solicitor

Unfinished Business

          New Employee – Briglia explained that the Board approved hiring Frank Boehme with a start date of January 3, 2012.  Briglia explained that he would not be entitled to benefits until after completion of his first year which would not be until January of 2014. 

Motion:  Troutman moved and seconded by Briglia to officially hire Frank Boehme as of 12/31/2011.

Motion carried 2-0.

          Benecon – Solicitor Prevoznik reviewed the correspondence from Brian Pinheiro, Ballard, Spahr, Ingersall, Andrews, LLP, regarding Act 125 Cafeteria Plan.

Motion:  Troutman moved and seconded by Briglia to notify Benecon that Paradise Township will be continuing with Blue Cross/Blue Shield as the Township's benefit provider and to approve adding the senior plan to the existing health plan and to rescind the decision to go with Benecon based on the fact that the paperwork cannot be completed on time for a January 1, 2012 coverage date. 

Motion carried 2-0.

Motion:  Troutman moved and seconded by Briglia to request a quote from Brian Pinheiro, Ballard, Spahr, Ingersall, Andrews, LLP, to draft the Act 125 Cafeteria Plan.

Motion carried 2-0.

Motion:  Briglia moved and seconded by Troutman to authorize Solicitor Prevoznik to draft the necessary paperwork to rescind the ordinance adopted to participate in health coverage through Benecon.

          Echo Farm – Solicitor Prevoznik reviewed the title insurance and tax certificates for Echo Farm.

Motion:  Troutman moved and seconded by Briglia to enter into an addendum to extend the closing date to on or before January 19, 2012.

Motion carried 2-0.

          There was no other business or public comment.
